The tech scene in Leeds and West Yorkshire is thriving, with a diverse range of companies pushing the boundaries in everything from cybersecurity to data analytics. However, a recent article in Leeds List posed a thought-provoking question: Are we doing enough to ensure that the pipeline of tech talent is truly diverse and accessible?

This question resonated deeply with me, as it’s the exact reason why Corecom Tech Academy was founded. ‘Be the change’ so the saying goes – well that’s what we’re trying to do!

Our Mission at Corecom Tech Academy

Our mission is simple: to provide everyone, regardless of background or education level, with the opportunity to pursue a fulfilling career in technology. We know that a diverse tech industry is a stronger one, and that everyone deserves the chance to contribute their unique skills and perspectives.

As the article highlights, Leeds has become a tech superhub, but there’s still a significant gap when it comes to engaging non-graduates and individuals from underrepresented backgrounds. This is something we’re tackling head-on.

Diversity and Inclusion

At Corecom Tech Academy, we offer free, high-quality training programs that equip our Associates with the practical skills they need to succeed in today’s competitive job market. We’re proud to have helped over 50 individuals from all walks of life launch their tech careers, and we’re committed to continuing our work to bridge the tech talent gap.

The stats* from our Academy graduates back that up:

  • 64% identifying as women
  • 42% are from ethically diverse communities
  • 27% identifying as neurodiverse
