Education & Training Winner – 2025 UK Startup Awards - Corecom Tech Academy

Founded in 2022, Corecom Tech Academy is an inclusive and diverse tech academy for passionate people looking to start and progress their careers in Technology. Through bespoke, practitioner-led training, we bridge the gap between untapped talent and the tech industry through our bespoke Recruit, Train, Deploy model, driving diversity and equity in tech and creating opportunities for those who may not have had a traditional route into the industry.

Corecom Tech Academy is on a rolling mission to provide 1,000 individuals with an opportunity to thrive in tech, promoting opportunities for the next wave of future tech talent and helping clients diversify their teams.

Thomas Crabtree, Academy Director of Corecom Tech Academy, said: “Our team has worked hard to build a business that creates equitable opportunities for people to break into tech, so it’s an honour to be recognised with this award. As we continue to grow, we’re excited to open up even more pathways into long-term, fulfilling careers in the tech industry.

“We started Corecom Tech Academy with the vision of challenging the Recruit, Train, Deploy sector to do things differently and do them better – and achieving this award is a testament to that. Being recognised by the UK Startups Awards reflects our commitment to developing the next generation of tech talent and driving a real change across the industry. We’re incredibly proud and grateful to our fantastic team, partners, and Associate Consultants, who have helped to make this vision a reality.”

Supported nationally by Airwallex, Join Talent, and V-Rum, the UK StartUp Awards were established to highlight the success of start-ups across ten UK nations and regions and to celebrate the achievements of entrepreneurs in all sectors of the economy.

Across the North East, Yorkshire and the Humber, cities like Newcastle and Leeds are powering a new wave of entrepreneurship, where founders are building high-growth businesses that are revitalising local economies and putting the region firmly on the UK’s innovation map. According to Professor Dylan Jones-Evans OBE, creator of the UK StartUp Awards, this surge in start-up ambition reflects a new generation of entrepreneurs who are not only identifying opportunities but are also building innovative, resilient businesses that are shaping the future of the regional economy.

“The StartUp Awards began with one core belief, namely that the future of the UK economy is being built by the people spotting opportunities, being willing to take risks and starting something new. While household names may fill the headlines, it’s the start-ups that are quietly growing, relentlessly adapting, and laying the foundations for long-term change. Nowhere is this more evident than in this region, where entrepreneurs are not only launching businesses but reshaping entire industries with vision and grit.”

“I’m delighted that Corecom Tech Academy has won their category at the awards and I’m looking forward to having them join the ‘best of the best’ from Northeast, Yorkshire and Humber competing at the UK final later this year.”

All regional winners in their category will now progress to the UK StartUp Awards final, taking place at Ideas Fest on 11th September 2025 (dubbed the “Glastonbury for Entrepreneurs.”) along with the winners from nine other nations and regions.
