Women in Tech: What’s Next for Inclusion in 2025?

As the demand for diverse tech talent continues to grow, our team at Corecom Technology Academy (CTA) encourage the creation of diverse talent pipelines that empower all individuals to equally thrive in tech.

Irrespective of global changes and panic rollbacks of DEI programmes, creating equal opportunities for diverse talent remains one of our core missions at CTA. We aim to continue challenging the status quo and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in tech, building a more inclusive future.

Read on to learn how your business can be part of this mission.

The Importance of DEI in Tech

What started as a call for better representation in tech workplaces has grown to be an integral part of business strategies, driving innovation, improving employee morale, and collectively enhancing overall business performance.

DEI initiatives often include bias-reducing hiring practices and training programmes designed to promote inclusive workplaces, both essential for closing the diversity gap in tech. Without these efforts, the tech industry risks returning to a less inclusive era, where the challenges marginalised communities face in entering and progressing in tech roles become even more irreversible.

In the UK, candidates increasingly value inclusivity in the workplace, with a recent Glassdoor survey finding that 67% of job seekers consider diversity a key factor when choosing a company. Yet, despite this, many companies still struggle with sourcing and retaining highly skilled, diverse tech talent.

With an extensive background in technology recruitment, I’ve observed the challenges women often face in the tech industry - including the lack of entry opportunities presented to aspiring female tech professionals. Our mission at CTA is all about championing diversity in tech by fostering a fun and inclusive work environment, helping the next generation of tech talent to a more equal playing field.

Business Challenges in Finding Diverse Tech Talent

One reason for limited progress is the unequal access to tech education and job opportunities across demographic groups, with women making up only 28% of the global tech workforce and Black and Latinx professionals underrepresented by 30%.

Additionally, traditional hiring practices often overlooks qualified candidates from diverse backgrounds by prioritising experience over potential, missing opportunities to build diverse tech teams. This lack of awareness about the benefits diversity brings can, in fact, hinder business progression.

By understanding and addressing these pain points, businesses can take the necessary steps to create a more inclusive and diverse tech workforce. That’s where Corecom Technology Academy comes in.

Creating an Inclusive Workforce in Tech

Our continued dedication to providing equal access into tech has led to significant progress in creating even more opportunities at Corecom Technology Academy, helping create a diverse team of 67% female, 52% low socio-economic backgrounds, 42% BAME, 31% neurodiverse candidates... and counting!

Through our bespoke Recruit, Train, Deploy model, our clients have access to this same diverse and highly trained tech talent pool. How? Well, this unique approach involves three key stages:

  1. Recruit: We focus on attracting candidates who are not only highly skilled but also passionate about driving change in the tech industry.

  2. Train: Our comprehensive training programs prepare these candidates to be project-ready, ensuring they can seamlessly integrate into your teams and contribute from day one.

  3. Deploy: Once fully trained, our Associate Consultants are deployed to client sites where they bring fresh perspectives, innovative ideas, and a commitment to driving results and creating high-impact solutions for your business.

This model ensures that leading UK&I businesses are continuously creating new opportunities for those from underrepresented groups to thrive in tech – resulting in a more diverse, motivated, and productive workforce for everyone involved!
